~ Evaluation ~
Before we started to film our short film we decided on how we could make the shots more realistic to enhance the dialog. We chose to film in a real Car and car Keys rather than false props. Also the amount of sound that would be picked up by the IPhone that we were filming on was considered before filming. Although these aspects of film wasn’t necessarily the parts that we wanted to focus on, we chose to think about them as we knew they are important aspects of ‘mise en scene’. When filming our short video we felt as if we needed to change a number of different things. Because we chose to film on an IPhone the quality of the film was lost when we had to convert it to a MOV folder In order to edit it. For these reasons we decided to re-film on a camera. We decided as a group to change various camera shots to incorporate shorter more effective shots within the film, as we felt the shots in our first attempt were too long. These changes are not on our story board as they were changed and added on our second attempt of filming.
Our task was to include the 108 degree rule. Our 180 degree rule was applied when the conversation is held between the two people in the shots. We made sure that the myself was seen on the left and Naomi on the right in all the shots. This is so that the audience would not get confused when watching the film because of the actors swapping positions. I felt as if we completed this task well as we followed the rule throughout the filming of the short video.
We were also asked to incorporate Match On Action within our piece. This is where i get into the car and can be seen doing this from two different angles - one from outside of the car and one from inside of the car. We felt that this was a clear example of match on action within our clip. However, a stand could have been used to make sure that the camera stayed still throughout the clip, this would have inhanced the effect.
Our last task was to include Shot Reverse Shot into our work. We included this technique during the entire dialog within the shots. We thought at this would be affective as we could adopt a less confusing scene for the audience by including both the actors in the shot (over the shoulder). This worked really well in both our first and second attempt. However, we did not use a stand which meant that the camera is not still. If we had more time this would be something we could improve.
