Rough Cut and Feedback
Our Rough cut was finished on the 12th of February 2016. We was originally happy with our rough cut as we felt as if it looked well edited and put together. we liked the variation of quick shots fade in's and outs, a mixture of angles as well as focuses within our montage scene. However, we decided that the beginning of the narrative scene needed to be changed and re-filmed. This is because we felt that it didn’t look as professional as the Montage part of our opening scene. The diegetic sound was unclear and shots were out of focus.
We decided to mirror the process we used for the soundtrack as this was very effective. We interviewed some people and asked for their general opinions which allowed us to recieve qualative feedback. Our feedback confirmed that our begining needed some major work when it came to shot quality and that the storyline was not clear. This reassured us on our decision to refilm. Everyone liked the montage and said it made them want to watch on which reasured us that we met the brief. A media student outside of the interviews also suggested we intersperse some shots of the girls in distress in the montage to create further mystery, confusion and disturbance. We feel like this would make the montage more interesting to watch for the viewer.
Our feedback helped us to improve our rough cut in order to achieve a psychological thriller opening that meets the brief, We plan to use the majority of the feedback suggested and will be re-filming as soon as we can.
